About the Course
Welcome to the Corporate Finance Class. The material for this class was graciously contributed by Copperbelt University lecturer, Byrne Kaulu. It is useful for students of GBS621 Corporate Finance, BS224 Managerial Finance and BS421 Financial Management and Investment Policy
Course objectives
(a) To introduce you to and provide you with an understanding of the nature and role of the financial manager and the influence of conflicting stakeholders.
(b) To empower you with knowledge and understanding of the general financial environment and the operation of financial systems with particular reference to Zambia and globally .
(c) To develop an understanding of the techniques involved in investment and financing decisions.
(d) To develop a working knowledge and understanding of the factors involved in working capital management.
(e) To develop your ability to apply the tools of financial analysis and interpretation of results.
(f) To develop the skills needed to assess and plan acquisitions and mergers as an alternative growth strategy
Presumed Knowledge
We will keep things simple and develop concepts as we go. However, it is presumed that learners taking this course have the following:
